At the start of 2018, the year looked pretty wide open and we weren’t exactly sure what to expect. We had ideas and notions, even a couple more concrete plans, but we were also carrying a fist full of uncertainty. We were coming off a year that was essentially a hiatus for us, 2017 held little for us in outward activity, but things never truly stop under the surface.
Early in 2018 we were joined by our original drummer Amanda Osterman, with her now husband, Brad Wengranowski on guitar. Together we were celebrating an important milestone for the band: 5 years of the ‘Gates of Eternity’ album. We headlined Hyperspace metal fest, and toured Western Canada, all while playing the album in its entirety. Revisiting our second, and most successful album to date, was more than just fun. It was invigorating! It helped light a fire under our asses to find permanent members and write and record album number 4. In the spirit of the year we even re-released ‘At Home in the Dark’ as a lyric video! (watch video)
But 2018 was more than just a look at our past, 2018 was about our future. We are recharged and fueled we are ready to grab 2019 by the horns and make it ours. We have a kickass new lineup and we are making swift progress, with the goal of starting recording in the early days of the new year!
No one knows what the future holds, but one thing’s for sure, this Kingdom’s gunna last! Happy New Year one and all!
Keep the Faith,
IRON KINGDOM
